On Sunday, April 25, 2021, Yad Vashem, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and General Secretariat of Religious Affairs of the Greek Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs successfully organized a transnational workshop focusing on the IHRA Recommendations for Teaching and Learning about the Holocaust. Approximately 170 educators from four countries –the United States, Canada, Greece and Israel– registered for this educational event which showcased six international discussion groups, led by facilitators from the Jewish Museum of Greece, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and Yad Vashem, in order to discuss with the teachers issues raised by the IHRA handbook. The event was addressed by the Minister of Education, Ms. Niki Kerameus, and moderated by Vassiliki Keramida (EWG, Greek Delegation). Jennifer Ciardelli (EWG, USA Delegation) provided an overview of the IHRA Recommendations and Greek Holocaust survivor, Iossif Ventouras, addressed the participants with a moving narration of his experiences as a hidden child.
