From 2 to 10 November, the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) convenes again virtually for the second biannual Plenary of 2021 under the Greek Presidency; this time having Thessaloniki, which used to be the major center of Jewish Sephardic culture in South-Eastern Europe, as our virtual “host” city. The pandemic obliging us to one more digital Plenary, the Greek Presidency of the IHRA welcomes over 200 experts and policymakers from the 34 Member Countries, 1 Liaison Country, 8 Observer Countries, and the 8 Permanent International Partner organizations that make up the IHRA to discuss our tireless efforts in the field of Holocaust research, remembrance, and education.
Committed to the principles that inspired the assumption of the annual IHRA Presidency by Greece in April 2021, as well as to its priorities, the Greek Presidency is hosting in the Thessaloniki Plenary experts and political representatives who will focus again on countering Holocaust distortion and safeguarding the historical record. Our common aim is to strengthen the moral commitment of societies and to combat growing Holocaust denial and antisemitism.
