The application for Observer country status from Brazil approved

Brazil first expressed its interest in becoming an Observer Country to the IHRA in a letter from the Minister of Foreign Affairs from October 2020. After Brazil’s representatives attended the Plenary session of Athens in June 2021, as Special Guests of the IHRA Chair, Brazil applied for Observer Country Status in September 2021. The procedure for becoming an Observer Country having been followed and successfully concluded, the IHRA Thessaloniki Plenary approved the application for Observer Country Status from Brazil. Hence, the Greek Presidency welcomed the 9th Observer Country to the IHRA.

The IHRA now consists of 35 Member Countries, 9 Observer Countries, and 8 Permanent International Partners.
